Transcarpathian schools have received 16 new buses and will receive 5 more

 In early June, the Department of Education and Science of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration announced a tender for the purchase of 16 school buses at the expected sum of UAH 29.28 million. The vehicles, that were eventually purchased at the expense of the special subvention for UAH 29.09 million, will be transporting schoolchildren in Rakhiv (2), Tyachiv (3), Mizhhirya (2), Svalyava (2), Perechyn (1), Uzhgorod (1), Velyky Berezny (1), Beregovo (1), Irshava (1), Khust (1), Mukachevo (1) districts. 14 out of 16 buses will be serving village schools, 2 – city schools.

In addition to these buses, by the end of 2020, 3 buses will be purchased at the expense of the balance of the education subvention by Rakhiv district and 2 buses – by Volovets district. This year it was planned to purchase 21 school buses," – Hanna Sopkova, the head of the regional department of education and science, said in a comment to the Uzhgorod City Website.

Officials assure that the main and only purpose of school buses is to transport students and teachers of the schools, and any other operation of the vehicles is prohibited.

According to the regional state administration, 216 such vehicles have been purchased in the region since the launch of the School Bus program.
