There are 51 cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Transcarpathia, five of them are medical workers

"During the past day, April 8, 338 people sought emergency medical care, 16 of them had signs of acute respiratory infection and 13 had symptoms of acute pneumonia," – the director of the Health Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Yelizaveta Birov said.

Sixteen rapid tests for COVID-19 were performed and 70 samples of biological materials for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing were collected:

– 8 persons were diagnosed with COVID-19, one of them is a medical worker;

– 28 people with signs of acute respiratory infection and 13 people with acute pneumonia were hospitalized in health care institutions over the past day;

– one person suspected of having COVID-19 and 2 patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

Overall, as of April 8, 2020, 51 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the region. Five of them are health care workers.

In the past 24hrs, there have been no reported fatalities among people with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, the Transcarpathian Regional Health Center reported.
