EU entry restrictions may be extended until May 15

The European Commission has proposed to extend the restrictions for third-country nationals.
The commission concluded that effective control of the virus is only possible if all countries together determine the date of the restriction expiration.
This was reported by the "Yevropeiska Pravda" with reference to the statement of the EC.
"The experience of Member States and other countries shows that the measures taken to combat the spread of the virus require more than 30 days to be effective. The Commission calls for a coordinated approach to extension, since the activities at the outer borders can only be effective if they are carried out by all EU and Schengen countries at all borders, with the same expiry date and in the same manner," – the statement reads.
Travel restrictions, as well as the proposal for extension, apply to all Schengen Member States – a total of 30 countries.
The European Commission added that such restrictions are necessary due to the negative situation both within the EU and outside the Eurozone.
