At the checkpoint “Tisa”, the number of Ukrainians returning home is increasing – State Border Guard Service

The border guards noted a significant increase in the number of Ukrainians returning from abroad through the checkpoint "Tisa" in Transcarpathia.

The same number of Ukrainians are awaiting clearance at the Hungarian checkpoint "Zahony", the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service reported on its Facebook page.

"Our compatriots are returning home due to the epidemiological situation and the upcoming Easter holidays," – the report reads.

To speed up control operations at the checkpoint "Tisa" the number of staff was doubled and additional traffic lanes were opened.

"Transportation of passengers across the border is being carried out by 12 buses provided by the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration under agreement with private carriers," – the statement reads.

The border guards added that every few hours they hold meetings with their Hungarian counterparts to decide on the procedure for border crossing by citizens.

The checkpoint "Tisa" is the only checkpoint on the border with Hungary currently operating in Ukraine.
