7 cases of flu have been confirmed in Transcarpathia

Last week (from 04.01.2019 to 14.01.2019), 2,704 people were ill with respiratory infections. The incidence rate is 215 per 100,000 population and is 30% below the epidemic threshold.

The number of appeals is almost the same as last week: 1672 children and 1,032 adults.  The number of appeals for medical care among children under 17 years old is 62%. The highest incidence rate is among children under the age of 4 – 781 persons per 100 thousand of the corresponding age group and 15-17 years old – 530 per 100 thousand of the corresponding age group.

According to the head of the epidemiological surveillance and infectious diseases prevention department of the Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the MoH of Ukraine Victoria Tymchyk, the percentage of hospitalization is 6.4% (173 persons). Most of the hospitalized persons – 77 – are children under the age of 4.  Fast tests confirmed the diagnosis of flu in 7 people: residents of Beregovo district – 3 cases and the city of Uzhgorod – 4 cases. 

Last week, 26 people were vaccinated against iflu. A total of 1,624 people have been vaccinated this season: 1,483 with the flu prevention vaccine Vaxigrip, and 141 with the GC Flu vaccine.
