On September 23, 2019, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krykliy met with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Marek Safin.

Among other things, they discussed the issues of resuming the proper functioning of Uzhgorod airport and developing the transit potential of our countries – container transportation from China to Europe.

To ensure proper operation of Uzhgorod airport, it is necessary to conclude an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and the Slovak Republic. The agreement should define the conditions of use of a certain part of the airspace of the Slovak Republic in connection with the provision of air traffic services by a designated Ukrainian air navigation service provider in "Uzhgorod" International Airport.

The parties agreed to expedite the government procedures necessary for the signing and further entry into force of the Agreement.

Vladislav Krykliy also addressed the Slovak side with a proposal to introduce the procedure for granting permits for international road haulage in electronic format. The parties agreed to address the issue.

They discussed the idea of creating multimodal logistics centers between Ukraine and Slovakia. The implementation of such projects will create an opportunity to attract additional volume of container transportation.
