Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka became the Honorary Senator of the Hungarian University

On Saturday, November 9, at the solemn meeting of the Senate of the University of Szeged (Hungary), the rector of Uzhgorod National University, Volodymyr Smolanka, was awarded the honorary title of Senstor Honoris Causa for special achievements in the field of education and science. The award was presented by the university rector Professor Laszlo Rovo. 
In addition to the Ukrainian scientist, the title of Senstor Honoris Causa of the Senate of the University of Szeged was granted to two professors from the US, Belgium and Hungary. 
University of Szeged is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Hungary. It was founded in 1872 in the city of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania. After the First World War, the city ended up outside Hungary and in 1921 the university moved to Szeged. 
Today, the 12 faculties of the university train specialists in law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, economics, engineering, natural and computer sciences, agriculture, pedagogy, music, arts and a number of other specialties, the UzhNU reported.
