Transcarpathian Hudaki Village Band will play at the legendary Sziget Festival (ANNOUNCEMENT)

This year, the famous Sziget festival in Hungary will last from August 7-14.

The guests of this year’s legendary Sziget Festival, which has been taking place for many years in Budapest in Hungary, will be the musicians from Transcarpathia – the Hudaki Village Band from Nyzhnye Selyshche in Khust district.

The Hudaki Village Band was formed in the Maramoroş region, in the mountainous area of southwestern Ukraine on the border with Romania and Hungary, where village musicians are called hudaki. Various ethnic influences have made local traditional music unique and multifaceted.
It combines archaic Slavic vocal tradition, Romanian melodies, Jewish rhythms and Romani temperament – the result of centuries-old peaceful coexistence of different peoples side by side in one territory.

The performance on August 7 will be the second concert of the Hudaki Village Band at the Sziget after the 2010 performance.
