Under the procedural control of the military prosecutor’s office of the Uzhgorod garrison, the pre-trial investigation into a criminal proceeding against a 35-year-old Transcarpathian charged with fatally running over a border guard of the department "Dilove" of the Mukachevo border guard detachment has been completed.
As previously reported, on November 15, 2018, at about 22.00, officers of the department "Dilove" of the Mukachevo border detachment detained an offender attempting to enter the territory of Ukraine from Romania. At the same time, the aforementioned person approached them and began demanding to release the detainee. Then, the driver got into a car "Audi A6", ignored the lawful demand of the law enforcement officers to stop, and deliberately ran over a border guard. The soldier suffered fatal injuries.
The indictment in the said criminal proceedings under Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (killing an employee of a law enforcement agency performing his or her official duties) was sent to the Rakhiv district court of Transcarpathian region for the consideration of the merits.
Sanction of Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 9 to 15 years or life imprisonment
