On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Museums, on May 18, two new exhibition halls were opened in the Mukachevo castle "Palanok".
Excursions started in the "Palanok" castle in the very morning. On the occasion of the Day of Museums, the entrance to the castle was free.In the lower yard, tourists immediately enter the market, where merchants sell their goods: jewelry, handmade toys, dolls, embroidery and various household items. If you walk further down the market, you can try traditional Transcarpathian dishes, taste wines and Carpathian honey. Also, in front of the bridge leading to the middle courtyard of the castle, you meet a poor Celtic peasant from the ancient settlement Galish-Lovachka holding spikes and hops - a symbol of brewing. Below the bridge, you can take part in medieval archery.
In the middle yard, there is another attraction of the castle - an antique restored hand-washer from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries featuring the image of the Palanok. The water is supplied to it from the castle well which is 76 meters and more than 600 years old.
In the upper courtyard, there is the photo zone - the seats of the castle ruler Ilona Zrinyi and her husband Imre Thokoly. Tourists have the opportunity to become crowned persons for a moment.
On the first floor of the castle, there is a new museum hall "History of the city of Mukachevo" restored by employees of the Palanok.
