Since ancient times, the Ukrainian people have seen some sacred meaning in embroidered clothes. Ancestors were passing embroidery from generation to generation and preserving it as a valuable family relic. In ancient times, embroidery was part of the bride’s dowry, and no holiday could do without it. People believed that embroidery can protect from evil spirits, evil eye, illnesses and various ailments, and also bring great success. According to our ancestors, every pattern on the embroidery had some meaning, Ukrainian embroidery often bore the symbols of two elements – sun and water.
The celebration of the "World Embroidery Day" has become very popular among Ukrainians around the world.
