A small American snake was found on the basement of a high-rise building in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)
The baby snake could have escaped from the owner or it was born in the wild.
In the evening, on Wednesday, May 15, one of the residents of a high-rise apartment building adjacent to the fitness center Viper Gym on Kapushanska street in the regional center of Transcarpathia found a snake in the basement. The reptile had an unusual color for Transcarpathia.
The man was very concerned about a reptile in the house.
The reptile on the blurry phone photo was immediately identified by the owner of the Uzhgorod exo-bar "Aquarium", journalist Oleg Dyba. On the spot, he confirmed that the snake that was calmly lying on a water pipe was a baby redcorn snake (Lat. Pantherophis guttatus) - a reptile that is found in the USA and partly in Mexico.
It is not entirely clear how the exotic reptile ended up in the basement of the Uzhgorod high-rise building. In Transcarpathia, these snakes are not found in the wild. Since this non-poisonous and very calm snake is probably the most common among new terrariumists, one can guess that the baby cornsnake escaped from its owner. However, since the snake is only 30 centimeters long and no more than 2 months old, it is possible that it was an impregnated female red cornsnake that escaped and laid eggs in the warm basement.
Red cornsnakes are not dangerous. So if you come across such snakes, do not panic.
At the moment, the snake has found a shelter in the "Aquarium". You may be able to see it at the exhibition of terrarium animals, which is planned to be held there in the coming weeks.
In any case, they are looking for a new, caring owner for the animal.
Photo album "Uzhgorod", which was made by people in love with their city, will be presented tomorrow (ANNOUNCEMENT)
