How residents of Uzhgorod will celebrate Independence Day
On Friday, August 23, celebrations will be held in Uzhgorod on the occasion of the National Flag Day and the 28th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine.
In the morning, servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine in a formal uniform will form the guard of honour near the flagpole, representatives of various military, law enforcement agencies and rescuers will line up on Narodna Square. At 11.00, the State Flag of Ukraine will be solemnly raised.
A 100-meter State Flag will be unfurled near the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
A youth flash mob with recitals of information about the State Flag of Ukraine will be held on Teatralna Square.
The celebrations will continue with a festive concert at the Regional Philharmonic. The beginning is at 12:30.
On the same day, a thematic photo exhibition will open in the atrium of the regional state administration, and an exhibition of archival documents in the lobby of the Regional Philharmonic.
On Saturday, August 24, Uzhgorod will be first to greet the dawn of Independence Day. This time, the festive location will be A. Bachinsky square (opposite the Uzhgorod Holy Cross Greek Catholic Cathedral). The beginning is at 6.00.
