A meeting with representatives of the Government of the Slovak Republic was held in Uzhgorod

The deputy mayor of Uzhgorod, Oleksandr Bilak, met with representatives of the Government of the Slovak Republic, who visited the regional center of Transcarpathia.

In particular, the meeting was attended by Oleksandra Grabinova, the Government’s Civil Society Ombudsman, Peter Pala, the Director of the Regional Development Agency of the Prešov Region, and other representatives of the Government of the Slovak Republic: Dominika Galienova, Tatiana Vanikova, Barbara Hindlova.

The guests were interested in the implementation of the public budget in Uzhgorod, its financing options and implementation mechanism. They discussed the opportunities for cooperation between Slovak and Ukrainian municipalities, organization of projects aimed at more active involvement of the public.

Oleksandr Bilak said that the public budget in Uzhgorod had been introduced in 2016. For the most part, the initiatives of the local residents concerned the arrangement of sports grounds, playgrounds, common yards, and the like. At the meeting, they discussed the experience of implementing public budgets in Slovakia, including the implementation of pilot projects in Trenčín and Tarnava regions – to support local schools.

The participants of the meeting agreed on the implementation of the first joint project in this field next year – to use the experience of public budget implementation in Slovak schools for Uzhgorod schools.
