A border guard dog found firearms components in two trucks

Last night, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" of the Chop detachment, border guards found components to the AK-74 assault rifle that were being moved illegally to Slovakia.

During the inspection of two trucks Renault with Ukrainian registration, heading for departure from Ukraine, a sniffer dog trained to find weapons and explosives gave a signal. Therefore, the vehicles were sent for an in-depth inspection. During inspection, they found packages wrapped in plastic in the cabins of both trucks under the driver's bed and in the side toolboxes. As later found out by law enforcement officers, they contained 149 magazines, 5 wooden buttstocks, as well as fore-ends - 14 pieces and buttstock grips -3 pieces.

A report about the detection of signs of a criminal offense under Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Smuggling" was sent to the Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region. After carrying out appropriate procedural measures, the found firearms components and the trucks with trailers were handed over to an officer of the Security Service.
