Hennadiy Moskal: You should block the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Road Service

Hennadiy Moskal commented on the protest blocking of the state-owned road "Mukachevo-Rohatyn" in Irshava district:

– The trouble is that the road reform, like many others, has not been implemented as it should be. The Ministry of Infrastructure has transferred the regional and district roads to the regions. And the roads of state importance – international, national, and territorial – are maintained by the Ukrainian Road Service. There are 18 roads of state importance in Transcarpathia. It is the Road Service that maintains them, clears snow in the winter, announces tenders for major or current medium repairs, etc. We try to help to solve problems on the roads of state importance – for example, request from the Cabinet additional funds for repairs. But we can not choose the contractor and tell them when and where to begin repairs – it is an excess of powers.

It is difficult for many people to understand the mechanism of road infrastructure maintenance. And, judging by what was happening today at the session of the regional council, it is too complicated even for some regional deputies! But I will still try to explain to the participants of the public roads blocking, in particular, the road "Mukachevo-Rohatyn", one simple thing – we agree that this road needs to be repaired immediately, because it is in a disastrous state! Just like some other roads of state importance in Transcarpathia, for example, "Khust – Dolyna". But your protest is useless, officials in Kyiv will not even know about it. You should block the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Road Service, that are in charge of "Mukachevo – Rohatyn", "Khust – Dolyna", and the remaining 16 roads of state importance in Transcarpathia. We are even willing to help you with transportation to the capital. Because protesting here will amount to absolutely nothing!..
