Queues at the borders with Slovakia are likely to remain until January 13

There are quite long queues now on the borders of Slovakia and Ukraine. In particular, at the checkpoint Ubl'a-Maly Berezny and Vysne Nemecke-Uzhgorod, you have to wait for several hours to cross the border from the Ukrainian side, the Mukachevo.net informs.
According to the information, in the morning of January 11, the wait may be 4 to 7 hours.
So travelers should be aware that the waiting time in the last days has increased significantly. The spokeswoman for the regional customs office in Michalovce, Clara Balogova, said that waiting time increases every year after the holidays, due to many Ukrainian citizens returning to their work in the EU.
She also believes that this situation on the borders will remain for several more days, until about January 13.
- Another reason for the increase in the number of passengers is the beginning of the winter tourist season, since skiers are going to Slovakia and other EU countries, - Balogova added.
In the first days of the new year, 500 to 580 travelers were crossing the border every day. Less numbers were registered only on January 1 and 6, 2018.
Due to the increased influx of passengers during this period, Slovak customs officers promise to increase the number of employees at border crossing points.
The information on waiting time at the checkpoints can be found on the site of the Slovak regional customs office.
