In 2017, tourists enriched Transcarpathia by more than UAH 2.9 million
During 2017, local budgets of the Transcarpathian region received UAH 2,901 thousand in tourist tax. This figure increased by UAH 702 thousand compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
It should be noted that the highest amount of the said tax was recorded by Mukachevo Tax Inspectorate - more than UAH 807 thousand; Uzhgorod Tax Inspectorate - more than UAH 711 thousand; Vynogradiv Tax Inspectorate - more than UAH 587 thousand.
Tourists arriving in Transcarpathia not only pay the tourist tax, the rate of which is set by decision of village, town and city councils in the amount of 0.5-1% of the price of accommodation (net of VAT), but also buy from Transcarpathian businesses some goods, services, and thus invests in the business and the budget our region.
Recall that the current legislation clearly defines range of tourist tax payers and its limit. According to Art. 268 of the Tax Code, payers of the tourist tax are citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and stateless persons who arrive on the territory of the administrative-territorial unit, where, by the decision of village, town and city council, the tourist tax is set, and receive temporary accommodation services with the obligation leave the accommodation within a specified period.
Representatives of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region stress that Transcarpathia has a great tourism potential and is an attractive region for investors. It is imperative that funds already received and to be received are used by local councils for the development of individual settlements and the region as a whole. Because developed infrastructure and various attractions will not only increase the flow of tourists, but also contribute to the growth of revenues to the budgets of local communities.
