The celebrations on the occasion of the Unification Day of Ukraine and the 72th anniversary of the formation of Transcarpathian region as part of Ukraine began today on Narodna Square in Uzhgorod, where the ceremony of solemn laying of flowers to the monument to Taras Shevchenko took place. The Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir under the direction of Natalia Petiy-Potapchuk performed the "Testament" of Kobzar.
Then the procession marched to Nezalezhnist embankment, where the laying of flowers to the monument to Hero of Ukraine Augustine Voloshin took place, the Anthem of Ukraine was performed. The procession then marched through Teatralna Square to the pedestrian bridge: representatives of the authorities, youth, public activists, and military forces united the banks of the Uzh with a 100-meter-long yellow-blue flag.
