In Transcarpathia, a 76-year-old foreigner lost his car due to an unsuccessful attempt to smuggle tobacco products.

On September 22, while carrying out control measure at the "Kosyno" checkpoint, border guards of the Mukachevo detachment prevented an attempt to illegally move tobacco products across the state border. The border guards suspected a car "Citroen Berlingo" driven by a Hungarian citizen.

Based on the analysis and risk assessment, the border guards decided to carry out an in-depth inspection of the vehicle together with the customs officers, during which they found 100 packs of cigarettes of various brands.

The tobacco products were hidden in the cavities of the car located in the luggage compartment of the car. According to the established procedure, the report on administrative offense was drawn up against the offender, and the man lost not only the contraband cigarettes, but also the vehicle.

The value of the vehicle and the cigarettes is currently being established, - the press service of the Mukachevo border guard detachment reported.
