Despite the fact that leaves on the trees have already become yellow, there are inflorescences and young fruits next to them. Experts say that the second flowering of chestnuts is caused by the pest – horse chestnut leaf miner. In the end, it leads to the destruction and complete whithering of trees. Moreover, the infected trees affect healthy plants.
Thus, in Uzhgorod, the leaf miner damaged chestnut trees on the entire Kyivska embankment in the city center. Utilities tried to prevent the spread of the disease by trimming, but this method was not effective.
According to specialists, in such cases, it is necessary to use special treatment on all infected chestnuts, and ideally, to gradually replace them with new ones.
