Uzhgorod in the lens: some changes in recent years - part 2 (PHOTOS)
Dear readers, today, on a gloomy autumn day, which is not too conducive to walks, let's continue to play the old game - compare the same spots in Uzhhorod in recent past and today.
The first article with such photo comparisons was published on our site two months ago, so why not return to this rather interesting genre? Recall that we will not be comparing modern photos with vintage postcards or old photos from the last century, but will be considering relatively new changes.
For example, let's recall how the abandoned building of the former dry-cleaner on Belinsky street looked like recently.
It was shot three years ago. Desolation, ruins, mismanagement. The keyword is the last one.
Now, the building looks like this:
Of course, it should be noted that the use and the look of the building has completely changed. And it will be true. But! In this case, it is not a historical building or any architectural value. A typical, practical, rather gloomy and unattractive object of the Soviet era. When everyone has an automatic washing machine at home, and several companies offer dry-cleaning services (with delivery), frankly, there is nothing to be sad about.
The next photo for comparison is an event-related. In 2014, in October, a heavy shower made Fedynets street remember that it once was the channel of the Maly Uzh river. And for a while, it turned into this almost navigable canal:
This year (though, a month earlier), this place looks calmer. Since that time there have been a lot of showers, but the situation has never been repeated to the same extent.
Let's recall the events of the past. A year earlier, in 2013, the burning of a BMW right in the yard of the city council caused quite a stir. I do not remember now whether it belonged to the city council or to some official, but the choice of the place for arson ensured a "sensation for a couple of days." The blackened wall of the city council session hall continued to remind about the crime for some time after that.
Today, only the old newspaper issues remind us of this event from five years ago. And, new cars are now standing at that place. BMWs can often be found among them...
In the same year, 2013, an event, which was supposed to become an example for many entrepreneurs, took place in Uzhgorod. The owners of the "Mustard Seed" lane decided to propose their own vision on how to solve the problem of the disordered lots for the household waste collection. And thus the first waste sorting facility opened near the lane. The facility was designed by young artists. It was interesting.
Unfortunately, the idea was not supported in Uzhgorod. No more similar facilities have appeared in the city. And the first and only one now looks like this:
However, the situation in general has somewhat improved. After all, at that time, the waste collection lot of the Green Market located close to the "Mustard Seed", as we can see, looked frankly horrible.
In addition to the dump, note the construction site across the road, where the flower market was once situated.
And now let's take a look at the same place today:
The changes are quite noticable, aren't they?
And at the end of today's review, let's recall how one of the sections of Sobranetska street looked like recently.
This year, we have beein seeing a slightly different picture.
Do you find this comparison game interesting? Then, to be continued. Why not?
