The cornerstone for the "Chapel of the Border Guards" was laid in Chop
The construction of the Saint Spyridon chapel has started in the Chop border guard detachment, and the cornerstone has been laid.
All border guards backed the idea of the construction of a temple on the territory of the military unit, which was suggested by the chaplain of the border guards, archpriest Serhiy Yemets.
On October 18, the ceremonial laying of the future chapel's cornerstone and the capsule on the site of the construction took place. The cornerstone was consecrated by the Bishop of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia Barsonophy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate. Together with the head of the Chop border guard detachment Yuriy Mykhailyuk and the head of the Transcarpathian community of the Ukrainian diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Karen Enokyan, the clerics signed a letter on the founding of the temple, which was subsequently put into a capsule. The soldiers and employees of the detachment, as well as the Chop city leadership, joined the prayer.
Then, the Bishop presented the chief of the Chop border guard detachment Yuriy Mykhailyuk the medal "For sacrifice and love for Ukraine", - the press service of the Chop border guard detachment reported.
