A concert devoted to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Armenian statehood and the 2800th anniversary of the founding of the capital, Yerevan, was held in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. The Variety Orchestra performed works of Armenian and Ukrainian composers.
Volodymyr SPIVAK - conductor, Honored Artist of Ukraine - shared his impressions
Interesting music, it is unsusal for us, Ukrainians, and it's fun to play.
Volodymyr Spivak says that a few weeks ago he met with representatives of the Armenian society and they agreed on the repertoire. Then they prepared orchestration and proceeded to rehearsals.
Karen Enokyan, the head of the Association of Armenian Culture of Transcarpathia "Ararat":
"We decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Armenian statehood and the 2800th anniversary of the founding of the capital, Yerevan. We elected two people who organized the concert. Those are Nikogosyan Serhiy and Galstyan Artur. We compiled the program ourselves. I liked it because it consists of works by both Ukrainian and Armenian composers. I think it's very symbolic."
Karen Enokyan stressed that this year, October 20-21, the founding of Yerevan is celebrated. Also, he reminded about the difficult history of struggle for independence of Armenia. The Association of Armenian Culture of Transcarpathia "Ararat" awarded letters of gratitude to the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal, the deputy head of the Regional State Administration Volodymyr Kolesnikov, the mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyiv and his deputy Igor Fartushok.
The concert finished with the performance of "Dance with Sabers" by Aram Khachaturian.
