Several "casinos" disguised as bookmakers were closed in Uzhgorod

The police stopped the activities of four illegal casinos in the regional center and seized the gambling equipment, the communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police informs.

In the evening of March 14, officers of the Economic Crime Department of the National Police of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region and investigators of the Uzhgorod Regional Police Department, under the procedural supervision of Uzhgorod Local Prosecutor's Office, conducted four authorized searches in the city of Uzhgorod, where there were gambling establishments operating under the guise of the bookmaker's office.

The police officers seized 89 units of computer and other equipment. In addition, they seized "black" ledger and UAH 30 thousand obtained in a criminal way. According to preliminary data, the value of the seized equipment is more than UAH 500 thousand.

At present, operatives and investigators are identifying the persons who may be involved in the organization of gambling business in Transcarpathian region.

A criminal proceeding was opened under Part 1 of the Art. 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a fine of 170 thousand hryvnias to 680 thousand hryvnias.
