130 to 250 hryvnias per kilogram: Smoked products beloved by Transcarpathians this year are quite expensive

The mini-inspection of shops and markets of Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Beregovo and Vynogradiv shows that the price of a kilogram of ham can reach as much as 250 hryvnias, the  Mukachevo.net wrote.

The price of another meat product, without which Transcarpathians cannot imagine Easter – homemade sausage – ranges from 130 to 190 hryvnias.

Professor and tourism expert Fedir Shandor, who has his own food blog, says that the Transcarpathian name for ham – "shovdar" – is a word of Swabian origin and means a smoked product.
