The situation with measles in Transcarpathia remains worrying

Since the beginning of 2018, 2,432 cases of measles have been registered in the region. 1,947 patients are children under 17 years old (81.2%) and 458 are adults (18,8%).

According to the head of the department for epidemiological control (monitoring) of infectious diseases of the "Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the MoH of Ukraine" Victoria Tymchyk, the spread of measles in administrative territories is uneven, most cases during the recent weeks have been recorded in Tyachiv, Rakhiv, Irshava, Mukachevo, Mizhhirya, Beregovo districts.

According to the operational data, in total, 72% of the patients in 2018 have not been vaccinated against measles.

Measles outbreak among students of the secondary school in the village of Chorna Tysa in Rakhiv district continues. As of May 30, 2018, the total number of ill students is 83. 

In order to prevent the spread of measles among children, the decision was made to close educational institutions in the village of Chorna Tisa for the period of epidemic.

According to the latest data on the village of Chorna Tysa, since the beginning of 2018, 125 cases of measles have been registered in the village, including 122 cases among children under 17.

In Rakhiv district, during the same period, 225 cases registered incl. 205 among children. The intensive indicator of 242.8 per 100 thousand people significantly exceeds the high level.

Medical and preventive measures are being taken.
