The memory of the repressed Ukrainians will be honored in Transcarpathia
On Saturday, May 19, on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression, the laying of flowers at the monument to victims of political repression will be held in Uzhgorod.
The event, held in the park of the Heaven Hundred on Rakoczy Street, will be attended by officials of the region, the regional center, members of the Transcarpathian regional organization "All-Ukrainian Association of Political Prisoners and Repressed" and the public.
The beginning is at 12.00.
Every year on the third Sunday of May, the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression is marked in Ukraine. This day was introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in 2007 to honor the victims of repression, to draw public attention to the tragic pages in the history of Ukraine, caused by the violent introduction of communist ideology. And also for the revival of national memory and the promotion of intolerance to any manifestations of violence against humanity.
On the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression, May 20, the State Flag of Ukraine on houses and buildings will be at half mast.
