The Knight of the Order of Maria Theresa conducted a tour of the Nevytsky Castle ruins for students
Students of the Uzhgorod Trade and Economic College these days are having their field internship. At the invitation of the internship supervisor, teacher Olesya Babych, on May 31, 2018, a detailed tour of the Nevytsky castle ruins was conducted by Uzhgorod archeologist, scientist, Knight of the Maria Theresa Order Oleksandr Dzembas.
The Nevytsky Castle served as a fortress for the Prince Druget's troops. Mr. Oleksandr conducted researches there and personally found a number of monuments related to the Mongol-Tatars (XIII century.) The archaeologist told students about the legends associated with the fortress. The unique feature of this castle is that it has preserved its medieval look. Mr. Oleksandr told about an unusual technique of water supply to the stronghold. Water was supplied from the neighboring mountain by its natural pressure. No other medieval castle in western Ukraine had such water supply system.
The tour ended with a picnic, where students had the opportunity to ask the archaeologist questions and share their own impressions in a relaxed atmosphere.
