Irshava police seized a record number of narcotic plants (PHOTOS)

Yesterday, May 3, in the morning, the investigator together with officers of the Irshava District Police Department conducted an authorized search in the house of a 67-year-old woman in the village of Khmilnyk.

During the search, the district police officers found and seized at the pensioner’s place of residence, on the roof of the house 123 plants that look like hemp, 3 cardboard boxes and 2 plastic bags with more than 4 kg of dry, chopped vegetable matter. According to the woman, she cultivated plants at home.

The seized substance was sent for examination to the experts of the police in Transcarpathian region.

According to the Chief of Irshava Police, Major Vasyl Nehrya, a criminal proceeding over the incident was commenced under Part 3 of Art. 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or transfer of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues in particularly large quantities. The woman faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. Currently, pre-trial investigation is underway.
