On May 22, in the Transcarpathian Museum of Architecture and Rural Life in Uzhgorod, there was the opening of the joint exhibition entitled "Graphics-Drawing" of famous Transcarpathian artists, teachers of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts Anton Kovach, Vasyl Pal, Vasyl Kohutych and art historian Mykhailo Syrokhman. The moderator of the event was the director of the museum Vasyl Kotsan.
According to the organizer Vasyl Kohutych, with this exhibition, they wanted to show Uzhgorod residents that Transcarpathia is famous not only for traditional realistic painting but also for other types of fine arts. The co-organizer of the exhibition Vasyl Pal noted that the vernissage was also intended to popularize drawing. Especially since drawing is considered the foundation of fine art.
Mykhailo Syrokhman summed up: "Three participants are representatives of the academic wing, all have academic education, drawing course. They work with shapes. I do not have art education, I’m an artist by vocation, I’ve been painting my whole life. I love it. And I fit here (laughs – aut.). That was the idea of Vasyl Pal. All exhibitions are a kind of provocation. I play the role of contrast here (laughs, – aut)."
The presented exhibition features about three dozen works. For example, Vasyl Kohutych presented color graphics. Mykhailo Syrokhman, in particular, works in the style of "op-art".
Artist Borys Kuzma and academician Volodymyr Mykyta summed up: "The quartet succeeded. Every one is individual. This exhibition is very much needed."
