The countess from the dynasty of Schonborns, who owned Mukachevo and Palanok castles, died in her estate in Vienna
The tragic news was reported at the end of the last week: according the family, Countess Kristiana von Schonborn-Buchheim, honorary citizen of Mukachevo, died on Thursday, June 14, in her estate in the village of Schonborn, near Vienna.
It was there where the countess grew up and spent most of her life, which lasted 90 years.
During the 1990s, the Countess was helping Mukachevo a lot to fulfill one of the last wishes of her husband, who had died in 1989.
The Schonborn dynasty was granted the right to rule Mukachevo at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

In addition to humanitarian assistance, the Countess was looking for an investor to resume the activity of the Mukachevo brewery, which was founded by her ancestor and is currently the oldest brewery in the territory of modern Ukraine.
For her assistance to Mukachevo, in 1997, the Countess Kristiana von Schönborn-Buchheim was granted the title of the honorary citizen of the city.
