The head of the National Police of Ukraine reported on the work of his subordinates regarding the night attack on a Roma camp from Transcarpathia in Lviv, which occurred on Sunday night and resulted in the death of one man.

Serhiy Knyazev claims that the police detained all the attackers on a Roma settlement in Lviv.

Law enforcers seized the instrument of the crime, which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man. A criminal proceeding has been opened over this fact. The event was classified by the investigators as a deliberate murder committed by a group of persons. The police detained seven young men suspected of involvement in the attack, as well as its organizer. The investigation is under the control of the leadership of the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was stated by the head of the National Police of Ukraine Serhiy Knyazev today, June 24.

According to him, the attack of the group of young men on a temporary settlement of representatives of the Roma nationality occurred yesterday, June 23, at about midnight in Lviv. During the attack, a 24-year-old resident of Transcarpathian region sufferred deadly knife wounds. Four more people - a 10-year-old boy, two 19-year-old boys and a 30-year-old woman - sufferred bodily injuries.

Lviv police officers quickly detained seven young people aged 16-17, residents of Lviv, suspected of involvement in the attack.

In addition, policemen identified and arrested the 20-year-old organizer of this attack. Real evidence was found at the scene, in particular the knife the deceased was killed with, other objects that the attackers used to inflict injuries on the campers. In addition, police officers are now identifying and delivering to the police stations other persons who may be involved in this attack.

According to the head of the National Police, the attacks on the representatives of Roma nationality have become more frequent.

The persons involved in the attack are to be detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Their actions are classified by the investigators under item 12 of Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - an intentional murder committed by a group of persons with a preliminary conspiracy. The detainees face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years or life imprisonment, - the Department of Communications of the National Police of Ukraine reported.
