Uzhgorod City and District Court is considering the case of the fatal accident, which was caused by the head of the Perechyn DSA Viktor Olefir on July 14.
Today, they are just determining the pre-trial restraint. That is, whether Olefir will be imprisoned, or, for example, under house arrest, while the trial takes place.
Ivan Pogorilyak, the head of the Perechyn united territorial community, said that he was very upset about what had happened. According to him, Victor Olefir is not a drinker: he would not drink alcohol even at birthday parties.
As previously reported, in Perechyn district, he, while being drunk, ran over two women who were walking on the sidewalk. One of the women, aged 66, died immediately. Doctors tried to save the life of the second one, 71-year-old, but yesterday she died of injuries. The tragedy caused by the official, has been widely publicized, there are many journalists at the court hearing.
