Dog hunters in Uzhgorod. Will they be punished and what to do if an animal ate poison? (+ COMMENTS)

The city residents are outraged about terrible deaths of dogs on the streets. Voices of those who said: "Why should we feel sorry for homeless and potentially dangerous dogs?" were lost in the wave of indignation and compassion.Indeed, no living creature deserves such painful death.

Social networks are full of horrible photos (for ethical reasons, we do not post full photos of dead dogs) and desperate comments of Uzhgorod residents who condemn this cruelty. Lawyer Roman Bukhtoyarov posted a photo of a dead dog with a bloody face and an angry comment addressing the mayor: "Only scum could do it. In the center of Uzhgorod, on Teatralna Square, some bastard threw poison. The poor dog died in convulsions. Andriyiv, are you aware of this? Or you, as always, find out about stuff from the news? Look at the photo, and on Monday I will print it out and personally bring it to your office. If anyone has a photo of those bastards, who throw poison, send them to me. And you, Mr. Andriyiv, wait for my visit."

Citizens appeal to the city authorities and the police and demand to find dog hunters and ask whether the animal killers were captured on video surveillance cameras. By the way, the mentioned incidents occurred right in the city center. Animal advocates from the organization "Everyone has a second chance" appealed to law enforcement officers. And the deputy of Uzhgorod district council Roland Tseber offers a cash reward to anyone, who will provide information about identities of the poisoners.

As you know, even dogs, that have owners, as well as cats and other animals often become the victims of murderers. Uzhgorod.in asked the veterinarian how dangerous the poison used by dog hunters is, and whether it is possible to save an animal that has swallowed a deadly "treat".

There are a lot of substances that can kill animals – more than a hundred, – veterinarian Svitlana Volkova says. Some of them can be purchased freely in pharmacies.

First signs of poisoning are fever, vomiting, diarrhea. In a short time – seizures and painful death.

How to prevent tragic consequences? According to the veterinarian, success depends on the time, that passed since taking the poison, and the amount of it. If you suspect that your pet ate something bad, immediately tie it down and rinse its stomach with some ammonia or manganese solution. It is important to give any available absorbent: activated carbon, enterosgel, etc. Of course, the help of a qualified specialist will be indispensable.

Now Uzhgorod residents, outraged by the brutality that thrives in the city, are waiting for the actions of the city authorities and the police in order to feel safe in their own city. And they also demand that the city authorities start effectively solving the issue of homeless animals in the city, support the shelter and sterilization program, which currently has been done only by volunteers.
