ATO participants and their children will receive state support for education
The Verkhovna Rada granted all categories of combatants and their children the right to state targeted support for obtaining vocational and higher education in state and municipal educational institutions. 240 deputies voted for the adoption of the relevant bill number 6298, the Ukrinform reported.
In particular, this right is granted to persons who took direct part in the ATO as members of volunteer organizations that were subsequently included in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military units and law enforcement agencies.
To this end, deputies made amendments to the laws "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection", "On Vocational Education", "On Child Protection", "On Higher Education".
Currently, only servicemen (reservists) and employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, and other military units formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and directly participated in the anti-terrorist operation, have this right.
In accordance with the current regulations, the state provides state targeted support for vocational and higher education in state and communal educational institutions to combatants as defined in paragraph 19 of Part one of Article 6 of the law "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection", and their children, including those who study full-time study at vocational schools and higher educational institutions until graduation from the educational institutions, but not longer than until the children reach the age of 23.
