Transcarpathian violinist won the prize for the preservation and protection of the intangible heritage

The awarding ceremony took place during the All-Ukrainian Conference "Implementation of the Convention on the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage: Results and Prospects," the Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"He is a unique talent from Transcarpathia, from the village of Nyzhnye Selyshche. And I am glad that today I will have the honor to present the award to Oleksiy Ivanovich Tomyshyn", – the Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk said.

As it was reported, on October 29, 2018, the Award Committee announced the musician, unique violinist from the village of Nyzhnye Selyshche of Khust district (Transcarpathian region) Oleksiy Ivanovich Tomyshyn the winner of the Prize.

In total, the committee considered 21 nominations for the Prize.

The prize for the preservation and protection of the intangible cultural heritage is awarded to folklorists, ethnographers, researchers, scholars, collectors, folk groups, soloists (vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers), teachers and heads of children’s schools of folk arts crafts, who contribute to identification, recording, preservation and popularization of ethnocultural heritage and regional features of the Ukrainian people. The Prize is awarded on a competitive basis annually in December and amounts to twenty thousand hryvnias.

On December 11, 2018, the All-Ukrainian Conference "Implementation of the Convention on the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage: Results and Prospects" is taking place in Kyiv. During the event, its participants will present the report on the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2018.
