Construction of a mosque in Uzhgorod: fiction or truth? Official comment

Recently, the information that they are going to build a Muslim mosque in the regional center of Transcarpathia has appeared in the Uzhgorod segment of the social network.

This information has no reliable source. However, users of social networks immediately began to spread it.

This information has a clearly provocative nature – almost immediately, a bunch of outraged comments from traditionalists appear under every repost, which by means of skillful manipulation is used to create atmosphere of anxiety.

The sad thing about this situation is that many Transcarpathians are not even interested in the real state of affairs.

Thus, the tension increases significantly, and these rumors move from the Internet to real life.

Although the simplest and most logical thing to do in this situation is to request official information at the Uzhgorod City Council. It’s even strange that no one has done before us.

First and foremost, one must understand that allocation of a land plot is not a simple and quick procedure. For example, one has to to at least file an appropriate appeal.

As we were told in the information department of the Uzhgorod City Council, firstly, no such appeal for the allocation of land for the construction of mosque has been filed.

Secondly, even if there was an appeal, there could have been no decisions adopted, because the draft decision should be posted on the official site of the city council for at least 20 working days.

And thirdly, the deputies must vote for it. There is always a significant number of journalists and activists at each session of the city council. Someone would have surely noticed and published such an important information!

But the main thing is in the first paragraph, so let’s repeat it: there have been no appeals from the public about the construction of a mosque or the allocation of a land plot in Uzhgorod for this.
