Transcarpathian students will be receiving Romanian scholarship

Ukrainian schoolchildren, ethnic Romanians, will be receiving scholarships, and their teachers will attend special courses at the universities of Romania. The relevant decision of the Romanian Government was adopted, according to the official Romanian website, in order to promote and protect the rights of Ukrainian citizens of Romanian origin to learn in their mother tongue.

The Ministry of Foreign Romanians (MRP) on the first stage will allocate 1,000 scholarships in monthly amount of 200 lei for ethnic Romanian students, Ukrainian citizens studying in schools with a Romanian language of instruction. Starting September 1, all children, who graduated from the first in the academic year 2017-2018, will receive 1,200 ron (about 260 euros) for the first six months. In Transcarpathia, according to official sources, financial aid from the Romanian government will be provided to about 225 children from several Romanian villages of Tyachiv and Rakhiv districts: Solotvyno, Nyzhnya Apsha, Bila Tserkva, Serednye Vodyane, Dobrik, Hlyboky Potik, Karbuneshti, Maly and Velyky Bouts, Podishor. Currently, the children’s parents are preparing documents, opening bank accounts.

The Ministry of Romanians, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education will give Romanian school teachers an opportunity to take advanced training courses in prestigious universities of Romania. 300 teachers of Romanian schools in Ukraine will be improving their Romanian language teaching skills.
