Another festival. The holiday of blanket will take place in Transcarpathia (Announcement)

Rakhiv district council decided to organize another festival dedicated to the special product of the highlanders – a thick sheep wool blanket.

It was decided on April 11, when Vasyl Dan, the chairman of the Rakhiv district council, and Pavlo Basarab, the head of the Rakhiv district state administration, received delegations from the Union of Ukrainians of Romania and the Kosiv district of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Following the meeting, they signed a trilateral agreement on the establishment of the International Blanket Festival and agreed on the venue and date of the first festival – the village of Kvasy in Rakhiv district, on August 12, 2018.

In addition, during the meeting, representatives of Kosiv district suggested to jointly appeal to the UNESCO with the initiative to include the Hutsul blanket to the list of non-material heritage objects, – the press service of the Rakhiv district council informed.
