The issue of the fate of the park on the "Kirpichka" remains open: they are waiting for ideas from Uzhgorod residents

As we announced, a round table on the topic: "Is it possible to restore the "Peremoha" park?" was held in Uzhgorod.

During the event, the participants talked about how to restore the green zone and bodies of water on the area of 8.5 hectares and the status of the "Peremoha" Park.

The chief architect of the city of Uzhgorod, Oleg Borshovsky, suggested to develop a detailed plan of the neighbourhood's territory. Because it is a prerequisite for further planning documents and the park's revitalization project. To do this, a geodetic survey will be conducted shortly. The City Architectural Department expects written proposals from Uzhgorod residents to prepare a technical task for designers for the zoning of the "Peremoha" Park. It should be borne in mind that 6 hectares of park land are leased until December 17, 2017. Whether the lease will be extended depends on the activity of the city residents in this matter.

Among the projects of the park zoning, the participants discussed recently discovered in the archives work project of the landscape park dated from 1984 by architect Mayevska. The main feature of this project is the minimal interference with the environment created by nature and man.

Mykola Yatskov, Regional Coordinator of the "Republic" Institute stressed that residents of the residential area should be provided with public space within walking distance. Measures for improvement and arrangement of the territory need to be taken on an area of 8.5 hectares.

Olena Lemak, a student of the Landscape Architecture Department at the Agricultural University in Nitra, Slovakia, presented her own Bachelor's project for the revitalization of the "Peremoha" Park. The feature of the project is the introduction of modern rainwater management technologies. The technology ensures collection and purification of water.

Oleg Borshovsky said that the city council with the participation of the public is ready to change the format of decision-making. Therefore, they will be holding similar meetings in other locations of the city to find out the needs of Uzhgorod residents before developing specific solutions. At present, the mayor's office is expecting from the city residents their ideas as to what the park zone on the Kirpichka should be like.
