Street concerts of Kharkiv bands, exhibitions from avant-garde to contemporary art, meetings with writers and directors, film shows, plays and theater workshops, discussions and fashion shows – all of that will take place in Transcarpathia on May 15-29, 2018. About 80 events in 8 areas (visual art, fashion, music, literature, theater, cinema, lectures and discussions, program for children and youth) will take place within the framework of the "SlobodaKult", an interregional cultural forum that will introduce Slobozhanshchyna to Transcarpathians and make bridges between these, seemingly, such dissimilar parts of Ukraine.
"Far away and unknown" – this was one of Uzhgorod residents’ association with Kharkiv during a poll conducted in the city in the summer by Kharkiv project "Nakypilo". Most of Uzhgorod respondents knew very little about Kharkiv. And Uzhgorod is not alone in its ignorance of other regions of Ukraine: during the press conference, Olga Sagaidak, co-founder of the "SlobodaKult" forum, director of the Dofa.fund charity fund, provided statistical data, according to which 60% of Ukrainians have never traveled beyond their own regions.
"SlobodaKult" will be held with the support of the International Foundation "Renaissance". The forum will introduce Slobozhanshchyna to Transcarpathia and will help establish lasting ties between the regions.
The organizers announced a rich musical and theatrical program. In particular, Uzhgorod residents will be able to attend a concert of the famous ska-punk group "Zhadan i Sobaky" and listen to Kharkiv folk groups, electronic music and modern opera. The literature program will present the philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda, the best representatives of the 1920s literary process, and contemporary authors Yevhen Polozhiy and Serhiy Zhadan. The block "Fashion" will be presented by fashion and Ukrainian glamor explorer Zoya Zvinyatskivska. Particular attention will be paid to children and youth: all programs ofthe forum will have events for this audience.
All forum programs are developed in cooperation with Transcarpathian artists and representatives of cultural institutions. For example, Mukachevo organization "Youth initiatives of Transcarpathia", Uzhgorod art center "Kublo", educational platform Nomen, researcher Lina Degtyareva, writer Bandy Sholtes, artists Natalya Tarnay and Oleksa Mann and others are taking part in the development of programs and organization of the forum.
The "SlobodaKult" will become the fourth forum organized by the Dofa.fund team. And in 2019, Transcarpathia will prepare its own program, which will be presented in Odesa or Mariupol.
