An Uzhgorod resident caught a robber
Yesterday, November 23, the police received the report about s robbery in Uzhgorod. The applicant stated that he had detained a suspect in the crime and wanted to hand him over to law enforcement officers. The investigative team found out at the scene that near a store on Bestuzhev street, an unknown person had approached a 21-year-old girl and snatched a cell phone from her hand. The victim began chasing the offender and calling for help. A witness of the situation, 39-year-old resident of Uzhgorod, immediately rushed to help the girl. He caught the robber, detained him and called the police.
The amount of damage is estimated at UAH 4,5 thousand. A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 186 of the CCU, that is, robbery with violence that is not dangerous to the victim's life or health, or with the threat of such violence, or committed repeatedly, or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. Such an offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to six years. The suspect was arrested in acordance with Art. 208 of the CCP of Ukraine and put in a temporary detention facility. The choice of a preventive measure is being decided.
