Tudor Kilaru from Uzhgorod will be determining which Ukrainian artists will go to Sziget Festival

The selection of Ukrainian bands to perform on stage of the biggest music festival in Europe began on March 1. The winner will represent Ukraine at the fest.

In the first round of the competition, 40 Ukrainian bands will be competing. The jury and online fans will choose six finalists who will compete in the final in the Sentrum Club on April 30.

This year, Tudor Kilaru from Uzhgorod will take part in the selection. He told the Varosh how he became a jury member and about the difficult task ahead.

– I, as a representative of the media (Tisa 1 and Tisa FM), who is an accredited member of the journalist pool of the Sziget festival, received an offer from the Ukrainian office of one of the largest festivals in Europe. The jury member along with other well-known Ukrainian music journalists, owners of venues, promoters, producers and DJs, chooses an artist who will represent our country at the Europe Stage of the biggest musical event of Eastern Europe.

For me, it was a pleasant surprise, because my programs are broadcast in the periphery, although I think that Tisa FM is perhaps the best gift for music lovers and for good reason. We have only the freshest music and announcements of iconic musical events in Ukraine and in the countries neighboring to Transcarpathia. So, perhaps, one of us is a worthy representative among the 12 jury members mainly from the capital.
