In Uzhgorod district, a driver hit a woman on a pedestrian crossing (PHOTOS)

Employees of Uzhgorod police are establishing the causes of a car accident in the village of Velyki Lazy, where a woman got injured.

Yesterday, March 26, in the evening, patrol policemen reported about an accident. Investigative team of Uzhgorod district police found out at the scene that a car "Renault Logan" was moving from Mukachevo to Uzhgorod on the highway Kyiv-Chop and hit a pedestrian in the village of Velyki Lazy. The car was driven by a 58-year-old resident of Mukachevo. He hit a 23-year-old local woman on a pedestrian crossing.

The driver explained the policemen that he had been blinded by the sun, therefore did not notice the pedestrian. The victim was admitted to the intensive care unit of Uzhgorod District Hospital with a head trauma and a broken arm.

A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Art. 286 Criminal Code, ie traffic rules violation. The driver’s blood sample was taken to determine alcohol content. The vehicle was delivered to the impound lot of Uzhgorod district police station.
