Today, at 18.00, in Uzhgorod, on Narodna Square, near the fountain, the spectacular athletic competition "Long Jump & Music" will be held within the 56th international competition "Cup of Friendship". Top athletes of Ukraine will be doing long jumps to popular songs and contending for the Grand Prix of the former world record holder, participant of 5 Olympic Games Igor Ter-Ovanesyan.
As noted during the briefing by the Vice President of the Athletics Federation of Transcarpathian region Anatoliy Kolomoyets, it will be the first professional sports competition in this unusual open format in Ukraine.
According to the organizers, the participants of the competition are quite high-ranking – those are world-class athletes, medalists and participants of many international competitions. Thus, Transcarpathians will be able to see a participant of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, European Championship medalist Marina Bekh (Khmelnytsky), Youth Olympic champion Yelizaveta Babiy (Zaporizhzhia), pentathlon world record holder Alina Shukh (Brovary), medalist of World Army Games Ruslana Tsykhotska (Chernivtsi), champion of Ukraine Anastasia Nikitina (Cherkasy) and medalists of international children’s games Darya Novikova and Yulianna Hudz from Uzhgorod.
During the briefing, Ruslana Tsyhotska, Marina Bekh and Darya Novikova thanked the organizers for the invitation to participate in the competition, and invited Uzhgorod residents to come see this spectacular sporting event.
Partners and sponsors of the competition are the Armenian Culture Society of Transcarpathia "Ararat" and sport philanthropist, representative of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region Andranik Nikohosyan. "Holding such sport tournaments is a good tradition" – Andranik Nikohosyan, who is also the founder of the Grand Prix of Igor Ter-Ovanesyan, said – "and the Armenian community will continue to support it."
