New asphalt will be laid from the railway crossing to the exit to Ankudinov street. The work is being carried out under the Program of improvement in Uzhgorod for 2015-2017, according to the project estimates.
During the work, they had to cut a big willow that was growing the middle of the sidewalk. The root system of the nearly 50-year-old tree has spread so much that it damaged the surface course – not only on the sidewalk, but on the roadway too. Before that, the tree had been inspected by commission consisting of employees of the Department of Municipal Economy and experts of UzhNU biology faculty, who concluded that the willow should be removed.
The repair of Antonivska street is scheduled to be completed within about three weeks.
