Conscript soldiers will not participate in the ATO without their consent - the military commissar of Transcarpathia
Young men aged 20 to 27 years are invited to military commissariats for medical examination and professional psychological evaluation. However, there are many people not willing to perform their military duties.
The military commissar of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat Colonel Bohdan Cheremisky told about the recruiting campaign in Transcarpathia
- Currently, recruitment of young men and their dispatching to training centers is going according to the schedule.Experienced officers are working in every district of the region, their task is to show recruits that there is nothing in the army that they should be afraid of - no hazing, no real combat missions or anything like that - he said. - However, despite our efforts, there are still problems in some districts.
Many young men have to go abroad to earn money to feed their families. Another problem is a relatively large number of so-called "dodgers." I think this is primarily due to absence of sufficiently strict liability for evasion. When a person feels impunity for his actions, he has other priorities.
According to the military commissioner, another serious problem is spreading rumors about participation of conscript soldiers in the anti-terrorist operation.
The military commissar reminded that according to the NSDC decision of 28.08.2014 "On urgent measures to protect Ukraine and strengthen its defense capability" enacted by the Presidential Decree off 24.09.2014 №744, conscripts do not take part in combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
To date, no cases of forced engagement of military conscripts to perform combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation without their consent (signing of a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine) have been recorded.
