Svalyava center for socio-psychological rehabilitation of children was recognized faultless (PHOTOS)

In early June 2017, a monitoring visit to the Svalyava center for socio-psychological rehabilitation of children took place under the national preventive mechanism.

Recall that we recently wrote about a similar institution – Batyevo asylum for children, where monitors found a number of violations, including that of the right to secondary education.

As of the time of the visit, there were 22 children in the Svalyava center. During the monitoring visit, no violations of the children’s rights were found, all children attend school.

The monitors noted the high quality of the psychologists’ work. When a child is enrolled to the center, psychologists conduct psychological diagnosis which is one of the most important steps.

Based on the socio-psychological diagnosis, they develop individual rehabilitation program.

In order to stabilize the psychological state of the children, the psychologists of the center have organized a series of training sessions, interactive and role-playing games, the main objective of which is the correction of children’s social behavior: raising awareness and motivation to learn, adjusting the system of values.

"Both the asylum in the village of Batyevo and the Center for socio-psychological rehabilitation of children in the city of Svalyava are subordinate to the Services for Children of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. I can not explain this huge difference between these two institutions. One has almost ideal conditions, in the other one the psychologist does not perform his duties and essentially works as a teacher. In Svalyava center, unlike the asylum in Batyevo, they provide a comprehensive corrective work with each child based on deep analysis of personal development. It should be noted that every year the number of asylums decreases, they are reorganized into centers for socio-psychological rehabilitation. While in 2012 there were 58 asylums, today there are only 8 of them" – the Regional Coordinator of the Ombudsman in Transcarpathian region Oleg Grigoriev said.
