Samardak’s case. The consideration of the appeal in corruption case has begun in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

The consideration of the appeal regarding the high-profile case involving the Mayor of Chop Valeriy Samardak has begun in the Court of Appeal of Transcarpathian region.

He is accused of bribery and now he is kept in custody for corruption charges – receiving undue benefit. During the last hearing, the court determined the bail in the amount of one million hryvnia. Currently, the pretrial restraint in the form of detention is imposed on him, and it is being challenged in the appeal. The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal also came to the hearing.

MP Robert Horvat is also present (both, as well as Samardak represent BPP). Horvat has announced a request for taking Samardak on bail. The defendant himself calls everything that happened a provocation.

Recall that it is not the only high-profile case of corruption in Transcarpathia – earlier the first deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Istvan Tsap was accused of bribery.
